The train passes through the curve at Sims,

...then enters the horseshoe curve as it passes the snow fences at the former logging town of Carr.

The train curves past the old livestock corral at Carr.

There's not much that is more scenic than a train passing through snowy Colorado mountains. The former Tinchera Estates narrow gauge logging railroad once passed through the gap just in front of the locomotives.

The train is back at Fir.

The organized photo line poses for a group photo before reboarding.

MP 180 represents the property line between track owned by the SL&RG and Union Pacific. This is proof that we made it here. We then headed back west, over the Sangre de Christo Mountains into Alamosa, and then south to Antonito.

The warm sun had melted some of the snow but the train still looked good as we headed west through Sims.

Passengers enjoyed the view from the open-window car.

Naurine Lennox celebrated her birthday by treating everyone to a nice assortment of finger foods and cake on the return to Alamosa.

Happy birthday, Naurine!

We arrived at Antonito at sunset with just enough light for a few pictures. After turning on the wye and backing to the end of track, we headed back to Alamosa for the night.
